To set parameters for your tasks, open the New Task window by hitting CMD/CTRL + Enter or by clicking ‘+ Add’ in the sidebar and selecting Task.
In the Task Name field, you can type any or multiple of the below options to set the corresponding parameter for the new task.
When using the natural language features, the placement does not matter. The parameters can be done at the start, middle, or end of a task name with the same result and in any order.
Type a day, date, or relative term, and TurboHog sets the deadline automatically. “Today,” "tomorrow," “next Wednesday,” or a specific date all work as you'd expect.
Example
Feed the hogs friday
The example above will be processed as a new task called “Feed the hogs” due Friday.
Type “start” followed by a date, and the task won't begin to appear on your calendar until the specified date.
Example
Prep for Client Call start Tuesday
The above example will be processed as a new task called “Prep for Client Call” that starts appearing on the schedule on Tuesday.
Priorities can be set using the following:
Priority | Triggers |
Critical | p1, critical |
High | p2, high |
Medium | p3, medium |
Low | p4, low |
Example
p2 Send accountant q4 payroll numbers
This will create a new task to “Send accountant q4 payroll numbers” as a high priority.
Setting the duration of a task tells TurboHog how long a task is going to take you. By default, tasks are set to 30 minutes. To change this, you can input the length into the task name field.
30m
1h
3 h
15 m
Example
Update previous month's customer stats 20m
This will create a new task called “Update previous month's customer stats” with a duration of 20 minutes.
TurboHog will automatically assign new tasks to your set default project. If you want to change the project a new task will be assigned to quickly, use the “#” parameter followed by the project name.
Example
send new designs to marketing #TurboHog
This will create a new task to “send new designs to marketing” in the TurboHog project.
You can combine multiple parameters all at once to quickly set everything you need when creating a new task. The placement of the parameter does not matter. You're able to type the same way you think when creating a new task.
Examples
Create employee on-boarding documentation p1 start monday friday #TurboHog
critical Create employee on-boarding documentation #TurboHog friday start monday
start Monday Create employee on-boarding documentation p1 Friday #TurboHog
Each of the above examples would all create the same task for “Create Employee on-boarding documentation” starting Monday with a deadline of Friday and a Critical Priority in the TurboHog project.
