Blocking allows you to quickly tell TurboHog not to schedule tasks at a specific time or on a specific day. This will have a similar effect on your schedule as creating a “busy” event for the same amount of time but without cluttering up your calendar view.
The Blocking feature is especially useful for days you'll be out of the office, traveling, holidays, or birthdays that otherwise don't have a “busy” event on your calendar already.
You can find the Blocking feature in Calendar view at the top of the Cal next to the date. You'll see a clock icon next to the date where you can click to block an entire day or a set amount of time.
When you block an entire day, TurboHog automatically reschedules every task to make sure things still get done in the priority they're set in while respecting due dates. If a task is not able to be completed on time, you'll see a warning on the sidebar in the “tasks need attention” section.
When an entire day is blocked, there will be a visual reference shown on the calendar view with the day greyed out.
Blocking specific hours in TurboHog will reschedule your tasks around the blocked hours. If any of the tasks are unable to be completed by their deadline, you'll see a warning appear in the sidebar that a task needs attention.
To block out specific hours of a day, click the clock icon next to the date in the Calendar view and select “Block hours.”
Next, set the hours of the day you want to block out. You're able to set multiple windows during one day.
Once the hours are blocked, you'll see a visual reference on the calendar view with the hours blocked out.
If you want to remove a block from a day, you can click the clock icon again and hit “Remove Block.”
This will trigger TurboHog to reschedule tasks with the new hours added back in.
To remove a block from a specific amount of hours on a day, click on the clock icon at the top of the day. You will see a list of hours that are currently blocked on the day with an ‘X’ next to it. To remove the block from those hours, hit the ‘X.’
When removing a blocker from a specific time, you can also click on the visual block on Calendar view and remove the blocker.
Blocking is intended for one-off instances that aren't part of your normal routine. If you're frequently blocking out a specific day or a set time each week, you may consider adjusting your Schedules that tell TurboHog when it's allowed to schedule your tasks.
